Bourbon Red Turkeys

The Bourbon Red is a breed of domestic turkey named for its unique reddish plumage and for Bourbon County, Kentucky. The breed standard indicates the Bourbon Red should weigh 23 pounds for toms and 14 pounds for hens at slaughter age (28 weeks).   They are one of the most beautiful of all Turkeys.

Ameraucana Chickens

The Ameraucana chicken first formally appeared in the 1920s in South America – however, it is believed to have been around for much longer.  Ameraucanas have been uniquely bred to retain the blue egg gene but to eliminate the lethal tufted ear gene. The Ameraucana chicken has a variable appearance, with two chickens of this breed rarely looking exactly alike. There are several color palettes to choose from, including blue, black, white, and wheat.

Dominique Chickens (Dominickers)

The Dominique, also known as Dominicker or Pilgrim Fowl, is a breed of chicken originating in the United States during the colonial period. It is considered America's oldest breed of chicken, probably descending from chickens brought to New England from southern England during colonial times.  Dominiques are a dual purpose breed, being valued for their meat as well as for their brown eggs. They weigh 6 to 8 pounds at maturity. In earlier times, their feathers were much sought after as stuffing for pillows and mattresses.

UPDATE:  Since we were struck by the massive Tornado on December 10, 2021, things have changed drastically.  We lost our Chicken and Turkey Coops and runs.  Then the fox and raccoons killed what was left from the tornado.  We are not sure what the future might hold at this time.
